How to write a letter to a political prisoner?

We remind you that the best way to support the imprisoned is to write letters. Anyone can do this.

Who to write to?

Try to choose someone whose interests align with yours. There are various lists of political prisoners. Here are some of them:

Rupression

What to write about?

Prisoners lack communication, so it’s better to write one warm letter than many dry and impersonal ones.

Talk about your life and interests, your pets (you can even send a photo).

Express your support or just send a printed meme!

What not to write about?

1. You cannot express your personal opinion on the criminal case (you can say “I wish you a successful outcome of the case”, for example), nor about the constitutional order of the country (jokes are also not allowed).
2. Do not write details of the criminal case.
3. Do not mention other people involved in the criminal case.
4. Do not write about events in the prisoner’s life that exacerbate their guilt.
5. It is prohibited to write about drugs, weapons, or extremism.
6. Do not write about prohibited means of communication with the prisoner (such as a phone, etc.).
7. Do not use foul language or slang.

Censorship is carried out by the place of detention. Letters written in code or cipher, containing state or other legally protected secrets, will not be delivered to the addressee.

Letters containing copies of literary works and/or periodicals will also not be delivered.
