About us

Vesna is a movement of young Russians who strive for a new Russia based on the values of democracy, freedom, and human rights.

Our mission

Our goal is to build a stable liberal democracy, establish the rule of law, and revive a strong civil society in Russia.

We fight against war and dictatorship, participate in the public and political life of the country, conduct public and informational campaigns, and promote the ideas of democracy, liberalism, and human rights to change public opinion.

Before February 24, 2022

Our movement began in 2013 in Saint Petersburg and gradually gained support among the youth across the country.

We provided young activists from across the country with a platform to express themselves and learn how to work in a democratic organization. We organized and participated in public campaigns against the destruction of urban parks and green spaces, attempts by the Russian Orthodox Church to seize municipal property, environmental problems in various regions, and other actions by authorities that harmed local residents.

Vesna is a member of LYMEC and iflry

After February 24, 2022

We coordinated nationwide rallies against the war and mobilization and proposed decentralized forms of protest.

We launched an anti-war agitation campaign, created the "Visible Protest" project, and published dozens of informational leaflets and human rights memos that thousands of our supporters continue to distribute across the country. We sent mass letters to State Duma deputies calling for Putin’s impeachment and introduced the "Impeachment 2.0" service. We also support numerous spontaneous initiatives, such as mass floral memorials in cities across the country.

We stand for...

Freedoms

Political freedoms: From the right to criticize and propose ideas to the right to determine the political future of the country.

Freedom of expression: Everyone should be able to be who they want to be without facing oppression from society.

Economic freedoms: The right to work, earn, own property and not live in fear of losing it.

Equal Rights

We believe that all people are equal and deserve equal rights, regardless of gender, nationality, or sexual orientation.

We also believe that tolerance must be mutual. We are open to a broad civil coalition in the fight for freedom, but there is no place for xenophobia in our movement.

We advocate for equal opportunities for all citizens.
